Sisters Rodeo 2016 queen applicants sought

Applications are being accepted for the 2016 PRCA Sisters Rodeo Queen, according to John Leavitt, queen selection committee chair. Applications will be accepted until September 16. Tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 1 p.m. at the Sisters Rodeo Arena.

Applicants must be 18 years to 23 years of age before June 1, 2016, single, have not been married and must not have children. They must supply their own horses and demonstrate their riding abilities. Proof of insurance must accompany all applications. The queen must have time available for appearances at the 76 h annual PRCA Sisters Rodeo in June and other events. She will also represent the Sisters Rodeo Association at other Oregon rodeos.

Three judges will select the queen based on personality, appearance, riding ability and the performance of the horse. In addition to the riding demonstration, contestants will be asked to give a brief oral presentation and respond to questions from the judges.

The applicant selected will receive a wardrobe, a Sisters Rodeo belt buckle, travel expenses and a $1500 Sally Leavitt Queen’s Scholarship for continued education.
