Highway 97 reopens after crash S. of Sunriver

KTVZ

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 south of Sunriver on Friday afternoon injured four people and brought an air ambulance to the scene, prompting a closure of the highway, initial reports indicated.

The crash was reported around 1:20 p.m. at the highway’s intersection with Vandevert Road, near milepost 155, troopers said.

Sunriver Fire medics, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and Oregon State Police troopers were among those on scene.

Northbound traffic was stopped for a time before all lanes were shut so the helicopter could land and pick up a patient. Others reportedly were being transported by ambulance with lesser injuries.

The highway was being reopened in both directions around 2:15 p.m.

Troopers said later they were awaiting more details but there apparently were no life-threatening injuries.
