City of Portland to accept RVs for free disposal
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Officials in Portland have designated a free motor home disposal day at the end of October, hoping to reduce the number of homeless campers living in the derelict RVs and parking on city streets.
Portland officials tell KGW-TV (http://bit.ly/2wqp88a) in a story on Friday that people who no longer want their older RVs face disposal costs so instead of spending money just give the RVs away.
Officials say the result has been residents and businesses complaining about occupied motor homes parked for long periods on neighborhood streets.
The city’s Free RV Disposal Turn-In Day is set for Sunday, Oct. 29 at the Portland International Raceway South Paddock.
The city says it will pay for the disposal of all RVs dropped off at the site.
