The High Desert Education Service District is pleased to announce that Gwen Carr has joined its board of directors.

Carr brings a blend of financial, social service and education experience to the organization’s leadership and is an active advocate for children and families in Central Oregon.

A Crook County School board member for the past four years, she currently serves as development coordinator, volunteer and events manager for Redmond-based NeighborImpact.

“My time in social services has continued to increase my awareness and understanding of the role education plays in the success and health of individuals and a community,” said Carr. “I am looking forward to continuing to serve the youth of Central Oregon in partnership with the HDESD.”

According to Carr, her involvement with the Crook County School District inspired her to serve on a regional level.

“Each one of the school districts in our region brings unique strengths to public education and I am excited to have the opportunity to share in that collaboration,” said Carr.

HDESD Superintendent Paul Andrews said the HDESD team is looking forward to having representation from Crook County on the board this year.

“Gwen is an excellent team player and partner in education. We’re fortunate to have her join us,” said Andrews.
