Local Alert Weather – Tues. PM

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone!

Showers are wrapping up on the High Desert after a rainy, blustery day. Temperatures are cooling quickly tonight, so expect slippery surfaces and spots of ice on the roads. We’ll see a chance for some isolated showers overnight, but we’ll be mostly to partly cloudy overall. Winds will be breezy at times — not as windy as last night — gusting 15 miles per hour out of the southeast. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 20s and lower 30s.

The Cascades will have off and on showers tonight and will be more in the form of snow than anything else. Snow levels this evening will be around 4,900′, falling to 4,600′ in the morning. Passes will see spots of ice and/or areas of packed snow. Winter driving conditions exist.

Tomorrow will start with slick roads and partly to mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will start in the upper 20s and lower 30s, so bundle up early! We warm into just the mid to upper 40s tomorrow and will be slightly above average. Our average daytime high at the Redmond airport is 44 degrees. By the second half of the day we have a chance for showers to develop. Overall we’ll see mostly cloudy skies.

Thursday into Friday will bring us our next chance for precipitation. Snow levels will be around 3,200′ Thursday evening and into Friday morning, so I expect to see some snow showers across Central Oregon with our cold overnight lows in the 20s.

Friday night also carries a chance for mixed precipitation as temperatures will be cold. If you’re headed out to the Christmas Tree Lighting in Bend like me, then I would prepare for winter weather!

The weekend ahead is looking cold with daytime highs not making it out of the 30s and overnight lows in the teens.
