Crook County Sheriff’s Office hosts first Citizen’s Academy of the year, with a special guest

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) - In an effort to strengthen the relationship between its residents and teach the history of the storied county, the Crook County Sheriff's Office held its first Citizen's Academy of the year.

On Wednesday night, residents of Crook County gathered for the first of the year Citizen's Academy, hosted by the Crook County Sheriff's Office.

The class featured a special guest who played the part of Crook County's first-ever sheriff - Jim Blakely. The actor retold history of Crook County before and after Blakely's time in office during the late 1800's. The over 150-year-old county is full of history and tales of the Wild West.

The academy also teaches citizens about how the department functions today, and how you could get involved. The popular class is already filled up the year, but if you want to get in on the action next year, stop by the Sheriff's Office to fill out an application.
