BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A report of a possible stabbing at Juniper Park in northeast Bend Friday morning sent a man to the hospital with minor injuries and brought out officers looking for a possible suspect, while nearby school and park officials were informed as a precaution. Police said later it was found to be a self-inflicted injury.

A passer-by called to report the incident shortly before 9 a.m., Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller said.

“The adult male victim suffered a superficial wound to the wrist area,” Miller said. “We’re looking for a possible suspect, although we don’t have a sense of when or where the incident might have taken place.”

She later told us: "Our investigation has determined this was a self-inflicted injury."

Earlier, Miller said police alerted the nearby schools and Bend Park and Recreation District officials due to the number of police officers working in the area around the park.

Bend-La Pine Schools spokesman Scott Maben said schools in the area were made aware of the situation, and their school resource officers “will advise us if there’s a need to take precautionary action.”
