Bend police: Man killed at Holiday Motel was alone in the room he rented when found

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A man who died in a southeast Bend motel room in what authorities are investigating as a homicide was renting the room and alone when he was found, police confirmed to NewsChannel 21 on Monday.
Police had confirmed Saturday that Robert Lewis Treher, 34, of Bend, found dead Friday in a a room at the Holiday Motel was an apparent homicide victim.
Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller told us Monday that no arrests have been made as of yet. Police have asked anyone in the public with information about the killing to contact them.
Miller said Treher was in the room alone, when officers arrived. Police found his van parked at the motel.
She also said police cannot confirm whether they had contact with Treher in the week before his death.
Officers responded around 8:25 a.m. Friday to a request for a welfare check at the motel, located in the 800 block of SE Third Street, Miller said.
An employee reported entering a motel room and finding an unresponsive man inside, she said. Treher was confirmed to have died at the scene.
“Treher’s death is being investigated as a homicide,” Miller said in a news release.
As NewsChannel 21 reported Friday evening, a large law enforcement presence, including an Oregon State Police Forensics Unit van, was on hand at the motel for the investigation. Miller said the on-scene investigation concluded around 4:30 a.m.
“This remains an active investigation,” Miller said. “No arrests have been made.”

Donavon McCray lives near the Holiday Motel. On Saturday, he told us what he heard on Friday: "I just heard a bunch of sirens down the way. Like I said, it's usually a quiet community here. There was definitely a lot of activity going on down the road."
He added, "For the most part, nothing goes on in this neighborhood besides some people speeding once in a while. So for that to happen around here is a pretty big deal."
