Central Oregonians react to Super Bowl 59 and the Philadelphia Eagles’ blowout win

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Even though Super Bowl 59 wasn't the most exciting, everyone from bartenders to customers seemed to enjoy watching the game, and the halftime performance. Most locals appeared to be rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles.

At Cassity's Bar and Grill on Bend's westside, all eyes were on Super Bowl 59. Longtime local bartender Dane likes to see the bar busy, "I would say Thanksgiving Eve is actually probably the best, but Super Bowl was a close runner-up".

As for who Central Oregonians were rooting for - there seems to be a consensus.

Dane said, "A lot of people would like to see the three-peat with Mahomes. But I think there's a few more rooting against them."

While bar back Evan added that the majority of people who ordered their drink specials picked the Eagles drink, "I made these specials the other night and most people got the green one. So I assume everyone's an Eagles fan." 

Liol Lavor thinks, "Kansas City has won too much, we have to stop the 3 peat".

Bartender Simone said most customers were rooting for the Eagles because they were not the favorite, "It's just an underdog bar."

But there were a few Kansas City fans, who thought the Chief's didn't live up to there legacy

As for the halftime show with Kendrick Lamar:

Kendrick Lamar killed it dude. He slaps!" said Dane.

While Jason thought, "It was a little slow."

And though he didn't know their names, Aaron thought the halftime show was good: "I didn't know any other names. I had to ask the bartenders. I'm that old".

Though many Central Oregonians watched the game at home, not everyone wanted to deal with the cleanup. An Eagles fan told KTVZ News he decided to go out, instead of staying because, "Someone else has to do the dishes".

Those who don't like football had a good time. Bar back Evan said he was excited to see the the drinks and the tips flowing.

"I love it, I love it because I make more money in my pocket," Evan added.
