Ryker Hartlaub throws perfect game, Storm advance to quarterfinals

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- The defending state champion Summit Storm opened the 5A playoffs in dominant fashion with an 8-0 shutout victory over Eagle Point, highlighted by a historic performance from sophomore pitcher Ryker Hartlaub. Hartlaub was electric on the mound from the first inning, striking out batters early and carrying a perfect game into the final inning. Summit’s offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first, fueled by key hits from Henry Gruetzmacher, Evan Guadalupe, and Mason Stout. The Storm continued to add to their lead throughout the game as Stout and Gruetzmacher delivered more clutch RBIs. In the seventh inning, Hartlaub completed the perfect game, sealing one of the best playoff performances in program history as Summit advanced to the second round to face West Albany.
