Brewer Fire in Jefferson County grows to 80 acres

UPDATE: Brewer Fire - Central Oregon Fire has updated their website concerning their response to the Brewer Fire.

Jurisdiction: Grizzly RFPA
Fire Size: Approximately 80 acres
Cause: Under investigation
Fuels: Grass, brush
Structures: No structures threatened
Fire Crews/Resources: ODF resources have responded


UPDATE: Watch Duty is reporting the 0428 Fire has been 100% contained. The fire was burning in northern Jefferson County along US 97.


UPDATE: KTVZ News has reached out to Central Oregon Fire for information on the vegetation fires burning in Jefferson County, we are waiting for a response.


UPDATE: Multiple vegetation fires have been reported in Jefferson County. According to Watch Duty - firefighters are responding to at least two vegetation fires. In addition, Central Electric Coop and Pacific Power are reporting outages in the region. At this time, Jefferson County and other communities in Central Oregon are under a Red Flag Warning.


MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- According to Watch Duty, two vegetation fires have been reported in Jefferson County, east and northeast of Madras.

The first fire, the Brewer Fire (0433 Fire) is burning east of Madras.

The fire is currently 2 acres in size burning between the Crooked River National Grassland and the Ochoco Mountains.

The second fire is the 0428 Fire, which is burning northeast of Madras.

This fire is currently 20 acres in size and is burning along US 97.
