Bend, Ore. (KTVZ) --- The City of Prineville is reminding families to stay safe while celebrating Halloween.

As trick-or-treaters head out for a night of spooky fun, officials recommend carrying a flashlight or glow stick to help children stay visible to drivers. Walking with a friend and sticking together are also encouraged.

Parents should check their children's candy and make sure treats come in sealed packages before eating.

These simple precautions can help families enjoy a fun, safe Halloween while keeping young trick-or-treaters safe throughout the night.
