Redmond man, 81, killed in motorcycle crash on Highway 19 in Grant County

MONUMENT, Ore. (KTVZ) – An 81-year-old Redmond man was killed Monday afternoon in the crash of his motorcycle, which left state Highway 19 in Grant County and traveled down a steep embankment, Oregon State Police said.

Troopers responded around 2:50 p.m. Monday to the reported single-vehicle crash on Highway 99 near milepost 110.

A preliminary investigation found that Louie Warren was operating a Harley-Davidson FXD motorcycle heading north on the highway when he failed to negotiate a corner, crossed the oncoming lane and left the highway, OSP said.

The motorcycle traveled down a steep embankment and came to rest on rocks about 15 feet below the highway, troopers said. Warren died at the scene of the crash.

The highway was affected for about a half-hour during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted at the scene by Monument Ambulance and ODOT.
