SUV crashes in Highway 20-Old Bend-Redmond Highway roundabout; driver has minor injuries, cited for speed

(Update: OSP provides details on crash; driver cited)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A rollover crash of an SUV Friday evening closed the new roundabout at U.S. Highway 20 and the Old Bend-Redmond Highway west of Bend for a time and sent the driver to the hospital. He also was cited for going too fast to navigate the traffic circle safely.

Oregon State Police said the 20-year-old male driver of the red 1999 Mercury SUV was "attempting to negotiate a roundabout at a higher than recommended speed" when he lost control and it rolled onto its side.

The driver sustained minor injuries, they said, and was taken to St. Charles Bend for medical evaluation, also issued a citation.

Bend Towing responded for the vehicle.
