BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris says Washington’s dedication to the collective defense of NATO is “ironclad” amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent refugee crisis in eastern Europe. Harris is visiting allied Romania, which has experienced a flood of refugees from neighboring Ukraine since Russia’s attack began last month. Harris and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis met Friday to discuss growing concerns about the influx of displaced people fleeing Ukraine. The refugee crisis is expected to get more complicated in the weeks ahead. Harris told Iohannis she wanted to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to their partnership and to the NATO alliance.
