Correction: Sept 11-Defendants story

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a story published Aug. 16, 2023, about a letter sent to families of 9/11 victims advising them of plea negotiations, The Associated Press erroneously reported that the letter was jointly sent by the Department of Defense and the FBI. The letter was sent only by the Department of Defense. The story also incorrectly stated that 9/11 families were being referred to FBI victims’ services with any questions about the letter. They were referred to Department of Defense victims’ services.
