Central Oregonians are ringing in 2024 with new activities and preparing for the future

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- It's almost time to ring in 2024! You can spend the first day of the new year taking part in a run with the Central Oregon Running Klub, and looking to the future by creating vision boards at General Duffy's

A new year means new resolutions and trying new activities. On New Years Day, you can partake in the Central Oregon Running Klub's New Years Day Run.

"It's open to anybody who wants to come and celebrate the new year for fitness and health," CORK's secretary, Regan McMorris, said Sunday. "Whether you're walking or running, bringing kids or dogs."

The run with CORK will start Monday at 10 a.m. The run begins and ends at FootZone in downtown Bend.

Last year, more than 100 people participated in the New Year's run.

"When we get 150 people to show up on New Year's Day, it's really exciting that we have that many people in Bend that really want to get out and celebrate their fitness" McMorris said.

The nonprofit's mission is to promote health and fitness through running and strengthens the community. After the run you can reward yourself with a variety of baked goods and warm drinks.

And at General Duffy's Waterhole in Redmond, there will be a vision board party. It's the first annual Vision Board Brunch N' Bubbles event.

Event coordinator Cassie Payton said, "I just wanted to do something positive and uplifting that would inspire people going into 2024."

All of the supplies will be provided to make your vision boards, as well as food and drinks. You can pay for tickets on their Instagram page. Tickets are $45.

"We just want to gather the community together and inspire people going into the new year," Payton said. "Sometimes, the holidays are kind of tough on people."
