The Sunriver Saturday Market aims to support local businesses

(Update: Adding video, comments from vendor, manager)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The heat in Central Oregon was sizzling, but that didn't stop people from heading to the second annual Sunriver Saturday Market. Dozens of people were perusing the booths and creative spaces, ready to purchase baked goods and paintings.

The Sunriver Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the event in the SHARC parking lot. The market grew from about 20 vendors to now 32 on hand, local vendors such as Hello Darling Sweets, The Royal Juice Company and The Vegetable Man.

"Our goal in mind here is to support all the local businesses," Sunriver Saturday Market manager Heather Sainsbury said. "We have a lot of people that have at-home businesses. The chamber wanted to really find a way to reach out and allow them to be more part of the community."

Lil Mama Candles Owner Megan Wieve said, "The support from the community is exciting, and I think it also shows that the vendor community has really grown together and everyone here is also advertising and supporting each other."

The market started in June and will go all the way through October. The next market you can attend is on August 3rd.
