Fierce fire destroys rural home northwest of Sisters
SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- An intense fire early Thursday morning destroyed a home in the rural Cascade Meadow Ranch subdivision northwest of Sisters, officials said.
The Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District was dispatched around 1:45 a.m. to the structure fire and arrived to find a residence in the 15000 block of Windigo Trail fully ablaze, officials said.
The 3,600-square-foot home was unoccupied at the time. A damage estimate is not yet available, but the home is a total loss, fire district spokeswoman Juli Spoor said.
Fire crews performed a defensive fire attack due to the progression of the fire on arrival. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal and Oregon State Police.
The fire district sent seven units, with three more from Black Butte Ranch and four from the Cloverdale fire districts. A total of 30 firefighters responded. One firefighter sustained a minor injury not requiring treatment during the blaze.
"Due to the time of day and rural nature of the subdivision, the fire was not detected until the home was heavily involved with fire and unsafe for firefighters to enter."
