Hotshot crews are battling a fast-moving 200-acre wildfire in Wasco County

WASCO COUNTY, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Zen wildfire has quickly grown to 200 acres about 5 miles south of Clarno, Wasco County, and within the Prineville District BLM jurisdiction. The fire currently has 0% containment, but no structures are threatened.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The fire is burning through grass and brush fuels.

Firefighting resources include the Antelope Ashwood Rural Fire Protection Association. Fossil State Forestry is on scene with one engine and a dozer. Additional resources include a water tender, Prineville and Vale hotshot crews, one helicopter, and one air attack.

The blaze broke out just outside of the Spring Basin Wilderness, which is south of the John Day Fossil Beds.
