Renovations finish at Shepherd’s House in Bend
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- There are many organizations across Central Oregon fighting every day to help those less fortunate, even with this winter storm. Today KTVZ visited the Shepherd's House newly renovated Lighthouse Navigation Center.
This major overhaul has added a kitchen, a laundry room, and showers. One of the main focuses of the shelter is to help people find employment by feeding them and giving them a place to get clean, so they have more opportunity to succeed. Today the shelter had a message and an invitation for anyone watching KTVZ Friday:
"I think the biggest encouragement that I would give the public is to come in. Are you curious about what we offer? Because it's so much more than shelter that we offer here at the Lighthouse, and I would love the opportunity to show you around the facility and explain the different resources that we have in-house and the ways that we partner with our community resources," said Naomi Blair, director of the Lighthouse Navigation Center.
To make room for the new amenities, the shelter had to sacrifice some office space and some of its capacity.
The funding for this program is part of Shepherd's House partnership with the City of Bend.
