MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Over the last 24 months, the City of Madras has been challenged with code enforcement. In July of 2023, the City and the Jefferson County Fire & EMS District collaborated to fund a part-time Code Enforcement Officer position.

The code enforcement officer is responsible for enforcing City of Madras and the Jefferson Co. Fire & EMS District regulations.

In November, the city hired someone for that position and they made tremendous progress in the community. They left the position to pursue other passions.

Since December, the city has had a vacancy in this position. However, the city has hired Marco Mack to fill the Code Enforcement Officer position vacancy. Marco started work on Monday and is immediately able to start service to the community.

Marco has a long history of public service in California in the fire service sector. Much of his service was centered around fire prevention. He has served as a deputy fire marshal for a large agency in California. He has retired from California and has moved into the Culver area.

His desire for public service remains, as he has been volunteering service for the Jefferson County Fire & EMS District.

The city is excited have this position filled and looks forward to his diligent efforts to make sure the City of Madras continues to be a great place to live and work!
