REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- To support families and caregivers of individuals with dementia, the Redmond Senior Center announced Tuesday it will be hosting a monthly dementia awareness class, aimed at enriching the community's understanding and capability to care for loved ones affected by the condition.

The class will be guided by the esteemed Jolle Blanchard, a figure well-known in the field of elderly care and dementia.

The dementia awareness class is open to all interested parties and will be provided free of charge, reflecting the center's commitment to accessibility and community support. It is scheduled to take place on the third Wednesday of every month at 1 PM, with the upcoming session on Wednesday, March 20.

This initiative follows the recognition of the growing need for both education and empathetic support surrounding the complexities of dementia — a condition impacting not only those diagnosed but also their families and caregivers.

Participants in the class can expect a comprehensive program that includes expert guidance, practical caregiving strategies, community support, and emotional reassurance in dealing with the multifaceted challenges of dementia care. The sessions aim to foster an environment where community members can learn important caregiving techniques, share their experiences, and connect with others on similar journeys.

The Redmond Senior Center encourages seniors, caregivers, and any interested community members to join the forthcoming session for a valuable opportunity to gain insights, discover support mechanisms, and enhance the quality of life for both them and their loved ones living with dementia.

For more information, to register for the class, or to inquire about how you can support this vital community initiative, please contact the Redmond Senior Center at (541) 548-6325.
