Strong Winds Cause Damage in La Pine

LA PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Strong winds damaged structures and knocked trees over in La Pine on Wednesday and Thursday. A Severe Lightning Watch has also been issued for the area, raising concerns about wildfires.

According to the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, a large tree fell over on Paulina Lake Road at Newberry Road.

Donna Gorman, who lives in La Pine, tells KTVZ News, her porch shade was damaged after a tree fell down in her backyard due to Wednesday's high winds. They also had another tree slam into one of their fences, which you can see below.

Chief Meteorologist John Carroll says the most impactful weather to watch is the high winds, which could reach up to 70 miles an hour. Viewers in South County near La Pine are reporting high winds, showers, and toppled trees.
