Deschutes County growth might lead to changes in outdoor lighting rules

Some feel Central Oregon towns are too dark at night. Others feel the night skies should be dark and full of stars. Deschutes County planners are now looking at updating the county's 'Dark Skies' outdoor lighting ordinance, part of their ambitious plans for 2021-22. A hearing is coming up next week: details here.
