Pickup truck recovered after 200-foot Tumalo Dam plunge
A teen's thankful father is expressing gratitude his son wasn't seriously injured when his pickup truck slid off the side of Tumalo Dam during Monday's snowstorm and plunged some 200 feet; Bend Towing recovered it Friday.
Nice to hear a good outcome for this family!
The Tumalo Dam is an historic site (registered as a county landmark) so the road going over the dam and through the “cut out” on Sisemore Rd remains- mostly – in its original condition.(There’s a pretty cool history to why the dam was built and why the Bull Flat area was eventually abandoned as a reservoir. Google “The Thirsty Land”.) Hopefully folks will respect the lack of “guardrails” and other “improvements” and just use common sense and caution when driving there.
