Be careful Central Oregon: Slippery roads make for difficult travel conditions in the tri-counties

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ)-- The winter weather across the High Desert today is making for some dangerous driving conditions. If you know the route you’re taking may have trouble spots, like the windy hill of Archie Briggs Road, you may want to plan a detour. Even if you do, be sure to be extra careful on sharp turns and steep slopes.

Annie Rothman, Bend resident, said “You know, luckily, I have really good tires but I was being very careful for other drivers' sake, hoping that they didn’t crash into my car. It’s pretty slippery out there. Going slow and making sure you have the right tires is really important.”

As a reminder, if you do start sliding, do not stomp on the brakes. Take your foot off the gas and turn your car slightly in the direction of the slide. Overcorrecting in either direction can put you into another slide. Be safe for yourselves and others in Central Oregon.
