Wet, winter pattern continues with windy conditions today

Rain and snow will continue to fall across the region today. A number of alerts are active due to the wintry pattern we’re experiencing.

Southern Deschutes and the western parts of the Tri-County area are under a Winter Storm Warning until 10pm tonight. Snow will continue to fall in these areas, accumulating around 2-4 inches by the end of the day.

A Winter Weather Advisory is out for Crook County. That advisory will expire 4pm tonight. A few inches of snow are expected.

A Winter Weather Advisory is also out for the Cascades, which will receive around a foot of fresh snow. Gusty conditions and blowing snow will make for dangerous travel conditions. Pack your winter car kit if you must travel, or delay your trip.

There is also a Wind Advisory out for areas along 97, starting in Wasco county and continuing into Bend. Strongest gusts occurred overnight, but strong winds will continue for the first half of the day today. The advisory expires at 10am. You can expect 35-45mph gusts through the morning, calming down to around 20mph during the second half of the day. Some might be experiencing power outages this morning.

The wet pattern will continue through the weekend. Expect travel to be impacted over the next few days from heavy mountain snow, gusty winds, and icy, or slippery, roads in the high desert. Drive safely and be smart.

We are nearing a clearing at the top of next week. Hold out for a few more days!

I hope you are enjoying the holiday week. Have a happy Thursday.
