COOL & GUSTY: Wind and showers today, sunny Sunday morning turnaround

BEND, Ore. — Grab a jacket if you are heading out for the rest of Saturday. A cool, windy system is moving through the High Desert, bringing west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Expect partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower to mid 50s for the tri-county area, along with a slight chance of a passing shower this afternoon.

Tonight, skies turn mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of evening rain showers that could transition into a light rain and snow mix overnight. Lows will drop into the chilly upper 20s to mid 30s, though the gusty winds will finally start to back down after midnight.

Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Cascade slopes until 11 p.m. tonight. Areas like Sisters, Sunriver, and La Pine can expect mountain snow showers, a risk of isolated thunderstorms, and wind gusts up to 30 mph, with overnight lows dropping into the freezing mid 20s to lower 30s.

The good news is this active weather wraps up overnight. Sunday morning will start out crisp and cold in the low 30s, but we will see total sunshine right out of the gate across Central Oregon, with any lingering mountain clouds quickly clearing out.
