Tracking a dry pattern with warmer summer like temperatures ahead.

We are looking at peak afternoon highs climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s across Bend, Redmond, Prineville, and Madras. Cooler conditions are expected along the East Slopes of the Cascades, with Sisters and Sunriver topping out in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The primary story today is the wind. A strong northwest system will arrive this afternoon, bringing sustained winds up to 25 mph and widespread gusts hitting 35 mph. Coupled with low humidity and our ongoing local fire season regulations, these dry afternoon gusts mean elevated fire awareness is critical across the High Desert today.

Once the sun sets, that northern breeze will act like a vacuum, pulling the heat out of the desert and dropping overnight lows into the crisp upper 40s and lower 50s.
