Chance of rain and snow with slightly below average temps

A fine Wednesday to you, Central Oregon.  This morning brings below freezing temperatures and possible pockets of fog and freezing fog though no advisories are currently in place.  Additionally, black ice and slippery roads are possible due to recent precipitation.

Today also brings a chance of rain and snow throughout the day.  Timing and temperature will  determine the type of precipitation. With temperatures a degree or two cooler than yesterday and a few degrees below seasonal average, an on and off wintry mix is a realistic expectation.

A weak upper level low pressure system that’s been moving through the region will exit the region into Southern Idaho by Thursday evening and is bringing light but consistent snow to the Cascades over the next few days.  Currently snow levels are somewhere 3300 ft to 2200 ft along the Cascades and travel in mountain passes may be affected.

Southwest winds around 5-10 mph will become northwest in the afternoon; high temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s with lows again in the 20s on the High Desert.
