Dry and mild Friday, rainy pattern returns this weekend with mountain snow

The region continues to be impacted by a series wet weather events that will provide High Desert rain/snow mix and mountain snow. This will continue over the weekend and into the beginning of next week.

Friday will be an above normal day, temperature-wise, as the mercury hits the middle 60s.  Normal is the low 60s, so it won’t be an abnormally warm day, but compared to what we have seen this week, it will feel that way.  Don’t get used to it, the temperatures plummet Saturday, only reaching the upper 40s.

Rain arrives late Friday and will last overnight. As the temps drop into the 30s, we may see a few flakes mingled in with the rain, but not much snow is expected to accumulate.  The mountains will see snow, but the passes will be wet and slick since the surface is not frozen therefore any snow that falls will melt. Saturday will see a rainy and dreary day.

Winds will be gusting in the 20 to 30 mph range Saturday and Sunday and the winds will be more robust through mountain passes. Sunday will be on the chilly side as the region deals with more light mountain snow.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be on the chilly side again with mountain snow showers that will have a couple inches accumulate above 6000 feet.

The rest of the week will be dry and chilly with highs in the 50s until Thursday when we get back into the 60s.  Overall, a cold and dreary start to the month of May.
