The warm-up continues, hot pattern into the weekend, storms possible east

The mid-summer pattern is in full swing with temps Wednesday hitting the mid-80s over the high desert.  Plenty of sunshine today and dry conditions will help the region obtain mid to upper 80s today in a few locations.

Normal high temperatures in the region for early June are the low 70s, we passed that today well before 10 am.  The highs are expected to be the main weather feature that will impact the area.  A few clouds will drift overhead from time to time, but not many.

Friday will be the warmest day of the week as the mercury in the thermometer hits the low 90s.  Some models have the area peaking in the upper 80s, but a few degrees will be barely noticed in this unprecedented heat pattern.

Saturday will be slightly “less hot” as we reach the middle 80s.  There may be some isolated pop-up storms to the east, but nothing widespread or organized.  If you are out and about this weekend, keep an eye on rapidly building clouds, that is the sign some convective storms may be brewing.

Sunday keeps the region in our warmer than normal pattern, just a couple degrees down from Saturday. There may be more cloud cover in the afternoon which may also lead to a stray shower or storm.  Good idea to keep your guard up both days this weekend as the isolated nature of the potential pop and drop storms is difficult to nail down.

Breezy and warm pattern expected to start the next work week with highs in the low 80s again.

Remember to stay hydrated in the heat, and never leave kids or pets in your car. In thirty minutes, your car can warm over 30°, for example, if it is 90° outside, your car will reach 125° inside in about a half an hour.
