Transition day today before rain returns tomorrow
Central Oregon saw a little rain yesterday morning and the mountains saw between 1-5” of snowfall accumulate. Mt. Bachelor received 5 new inches of powder from Sunday to Monday.
We remain cool today, highs in the mid 40s to low 50s. We’ll be partly cloudy today but skies should open up progressively through the day. Lows tonight will be in the 20s and 30s. Winds this afternoon will be light.
We can call today “the calm before the storm.” We will be dry today as a small ridge passes through our region. It is the break in between the two low pressure systems that are impacting our region this week.
The first system is has moved northeast while the second system is expected to drop in tomorrow. We should have a dry start on Wednesday before the second round of snow showers and rain moves in during the second half of the day. Thursday, Halloween, looks to be the wettest day of the week. Showers will linger into Friday before we start clearing out for the weekend. This second round will be more impactful than the first, with the possibility of close to 8-12” of snow accumulation along parts of the Cascades over the course of these couple days. This will be the first significant snow of the season!
We won’t see snow accumulate in Central Oregon, but a wintry mix is likely for higher elevations like Sunriver, La Pine, Sisters, and possibly Bend on Thursday and Friday morning. Roads could be slick during this time, drive safely.
Have a great day! Keep an eye for the pumpkin in my forecast for the remainder of the month.
