Last big wave of snow before it tapers off heading into the weekend
A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for areas along 97 and all of Crook County until tomorrow afternoon. Periods of moderate to heavy snowfall will make for dangerous travel conditions. Drive safely.
Plan extra time today as icy roads are still a concern for your morning commute.
We’re waking up to dry conditions this morning. Snow will begin again in the mid to late morning in the southern portions of the Tri-County area and progressively push north through the afternoon ahead of a surface low pressure and accompanying warm front approaching from the south-southwest. By this evening, we’re looking at more widespread snow showers that will continue steadily through the night.
This will be our last big wave of snowfall before snow starts tapering off. Snow will clear Friday morning. There is a slim chance for some light snow to fall on Friday and Saturday, but it will be more of a passing, stray shower rather than a steady snowfall. By tomorrow morning, the Ochocos and our Highland locations could pick up another 3-5” while areas along US97 are looking at another 2-4”.
Temperatures remain cold for the long term. Look for highs to top out in the 30s for at least the next seven days, with areas dipping into the 20s at times. Overnight lows are mostly in the teens and singles.
Happy Thursday and have a great day!
