Off and on wet, wintry weather into next week as temperatures gradually increase back to near normal
Today is the first day of the week we’ll climb above freezing. Highs today are in the mid and upper 30s. Lows tonight stay cool, dropping into the teens.
Looking into the weekend, temperatures are on the rise. We’ll see the 40s make their long-awaited return by Saturday or Sunday and even reach near normal at the top of next week.
Snow will continue today but fall mostly along the Cascades. We’ll see some scattered snow showers early in the day that will taper off into the evening. No more than an inch is expected for areas across the high desert. If you have Valentine’s Day plans tonight or are making it out to Bend WinterFest, temperatures will be cold but the weather should keep dry.
Saturday might be the better of the two weekend days to hit WinterFest. There is a small chance for a wintry mix to fall in the afternoon, so you can pack a raincoat or a hat, but chances are on the slimmer side, so you might not even need it.
Sunday, however, will have spotty snow and rain through the day, with more widespread showers later in the night.
It is President’s Day weekend, so if you’re choosing to celebrate at the mountain, Saturday will be the drier of the two days while Sunday will be the day to go if you like snowy, powder days. The snow might be on the wetter and heavier side, but it’ll still be a good day to ski or ride.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Have a lovely day and a great weekend.
