Warmer than normal pattern for the High Desert

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - A ridge of high pressure building in from the Pacific is bringing warmer temperatures and dry weather to the High Desert this week.

Highs will climb into the 70s today and Thursday, with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies expected.

The warmer than normal pattern continues through the weekend, with many spots expected to climb into the low to mid 80s. Memorial Day weekend looks great for getting outside across Central Oregon, whether you're heading to the river, hiking the trails, camping, or spending time downtown.

Overnight temperatures will cool into the mid 30s to upper 40s over the next few days, so bring layers for chilly mornings followed by warm afternoons.

We’ll start to transition back to more seasonable weather by Memorial Day Monday. Temperatures will still be running a little above normal, with highs in the low 70s. Clouds will begin to increase ahead of a chance for showers returning on Tuesday.

Reminder that the ground remains very dry, and much of the area is in severe drought this week. Please be mindful with campfires or any activities that could spark a wildfire. Also, stay hydrated and wear sunscreen if you’re planning to spend time outside enjoying the warm weather!
