Tracking showers & storms, Local Alert Weather Day on Thursday

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Central Oregon will stay in an unsettled pattern over the next few days with periods of showers and thunderstorms.

An area of low pressure lingering over Northern California is helping fuel the rainy and stormy pattern across the region.

We’ve issued a Local Alert Weather Day for Thursday as Central Oregon faces a Marginal Risk for severe storms. Gusty winds and up to 1” hail are possible, so be prepared for changing outdoor plans.

We’ll see a mix of clouds and sunshine today with some rain showers. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible late this afternoon into the evening.

Thursday looks to be the most active day of the week with stronger storms possible. Severe storms could bring wind gusts near 60 mph, large hail over 1”. Lightning is also a concern, so be weather aware if you have outdoor plans.

Some rain lingers into Friday, but the threat of storms is near zero. As showers taper off, the region begins to dry out.

Sunshine returns for the weekend with highs back in the upper 60s and comfortable conditions across Central Oregon. Warmer temperatures continue building into next week.
