Fire weather concerns today, rain and cooler temperatures to follow

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - A change in the weather pattern is on the way for Central Oregon.

We'll reach the upper 70s to low 80s today, and temperatures will continue to cool into the weekend.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect today for the Warm Springs Reservation and areas to the north and east, where wind gusts could reach 30 mph. The rest of the Tri-Counties will be breezy to windy as well, so any fire that starts could spread quickly.

Clouds will increase through the day, with a chance for showers returning late Thursday into Friday.

Highs will only top out in the upper 60s to low 70s tomorrow. Expect cloudy skies, breezy winds, and showers for your Friday.

Rain will be off and on Saturday as well with highs only reaching the 60s. The highest peaks could even pick up a little snow above 7,500 feet, but that's well above the Cascade passes.

Sunday will stay cool and breezy, with a few lingering showers possible along the Cascades. High temperatures across the High Desert will remain in the mid 60s.

Warmer weather returns to start next week. Highs climb back into the low to mid 70s on Monday and Tuesday under mostly sunny skies.
