Rain showers tonight, cooler Sunday across Central Oregon

Rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms are expected across Central Oregon Saturday evening, with rain showers likely continuing overnight.

The National Weather Service says the chance of precipitation is near 100 percent tonight for Bend, Redmond, Prineville and Madras. Rainfall amounts up to a half-inch are possible, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

West winds will run 5 to 15 mph, with gusts around 30 mph. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Along the east slopes of the Cascades, including Sisters, La Pine and Sunriver, rain showers and a chance of thunderstorms are expected this evening, followed by rain and high mountain snow showers overnight. No high mountain snow accumulation is expected. Wind gusts could reach around 40 mph overnight.

Sunday will be cooler and breezy for Bend, Redmond, Prineville and Madras. Highs will reach the lower 60s, with a 20 percent chance of afternoon rain showers. Southwest winds could gust around 30 mph.

Along the east slopes of the Cascades, there is a chance of rain and high mountain snow showers Sunday morning, followed by a chance of rain showers in the afternoon. Highs will range from the mid 40s to mid 50s, with valley locations reaching the mid to upper 50s.

Sunday night will be partly cloudy across Bend, Redmond, Prineville and Madras, while skies near the Cascades become mostly clear after a mostly cloudy evening.

Monday will be sunny. Highs will reach the lower 70s across Bend, Redmond, Prineville and Madras, while areas near the Cascades will remain cooler.

Mostly clear weather continues through the week, with warmer temperatures arriving by Thursday through Saturday.
