Heavy rain and significant mountain snow tonight

Happy Saturday Central Oregon!

More showers are headed our way tonight. With mild temperatures, most of the precipitation in the lower elevations will fall as rain. The rain could become heavy at times tonight into tomorrow morning so there is potential for minor flooding.

A Winter Storm Warning will go into effect overnight for east face of the Cascades, bringing several more inches of snow on the mountains. Areas such as La Pine, Sisters and Sunriver could also see a couple inches.

You may want to delay travel in the mountain passes. Heavy snowfall along with low visibility will create some difficult driving conditions. Downed tees and power lines are possible due to strong winds.

We may see some off and on rain showers Sunday morning, then again in the afternoon. Things will start to taper off tomorrow as an area of high pressure takes over later in the day. It should stick around until the end of year, keeping us dry.

Highs will be in the low to mid 40s on Sunday.

Chilly and dry weather is expected on Monday and Tuesday. A spot shower is possible on New Year’s Day, but overall, it should be a calm start to the new year.

Stay safe and enjoy the weekend!
