Storms in the east, cooler pattern in place

The hot pattern has been replaced by a cooler and cloudier regime.  The mercury in the thermometer hit the 90° mark last week five of seven times. Currently we are looking at a warm, not hot, run for the next few days.  The clouds and light rain to the east are helping keep the temperatures down, and are also aiding in the suppression efforts of area firefighters.

The Cram Fire has been settling down significantly and although not 100% contained, it is getting close. I do want to remind everyone, “contained” does not mean extinguished, there are still a couple of hot spots they are mopping up, but the weather has been a great help this weekend.  Awesome job by all involved in getting a nearly 100k acre nearly contained in about a week.

As for the weather, we are going to still be above normal this week starting Wednesday as high temps reach the upper 80s and low 90s.  There is some rain well east of the region today, and we may see some spotty showers tomorrow, but generally, nothing more than scattered showers with an isolated storm possible today and Tuesday. The chance for the rain is mostly to the southeast but keep an eye to the sky if you are hiking or recreating over the next couple of days.

Overall, we are going to be on the quiet side but not totally void of any rain chances.  We should close out the last weekend of July on a warm note, with highs in the middle to upper 80s and showers mainly away from the Tri-counties.
