Periods of rain today, minor flooding, debris flows possible over burn scars
(KTVZ, Bend Ore.) The rainy pattern persists today and the eastern sections of the viewing area are expected to see pockets of heavy rain. The rain is rotating around an area of low pressure south of Oregon but is providing us with the rain. The location puts us in a position to receive lines of showers that will fall over the same area. If this occurs over the old burn scars from previous wildfires it may cause debris flows and or landslides.

The potential for flash flooding is possible, and if there is a flash flood with debris, it is very dangerous for that specific region. The rain may stay away from the 97 corridor until later this afternoon, but may cause some minor street flooding. The creeks and streams may run fast and full, so stay alert near the banks of any fast-moving water.

The showers will linger Thursday and should be exiting to the east. The low will push east into Idaho and Montana tomorrow and pull the rain along with it. This low has slowly moved onshore and has provided us with rain for a number of days. Thunderstorms since Thursday have generated a lot of new wildfires so the rainy pattern is not always welcomed, but we do need the rain.
Friday and Saturday will be dry and mild with temperatures reaching the middle 70s Friday and the low 80s on Saturday. A classic late summer weekend with mild to warm weather to start.
Sunday, however, brings back some rain. Showers are expected to develop in the afternoon with a few thunderstorms embedded in the flow. This should be a light rain day with the chance for some soaking and beneficial moisture.
Once the showers end late Sunday or early Monday Central Oregon should see a dry pattern set up for the rest of next week.
