Bend police warn families of safety measures ahead of Halloween trick-or-treating

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- With Halloween tomorrow, the Bend Police Department is reminding families to take a few extra precautions while trick-or-treating.

Parents are encouraged to give kids flashlights or glowsticks and make sure costumes don't block their vision or cause tripping hazards.

Drivers should slow down, stay alert and avoid distractions, especially in neighborhoods where children will be out after dark.

Police say they'll also have extra officers on duty Saturday evening.

Officers will be keeping an eye out for unsafe behavior and enforcing e-motorcycle laws, particularly during any large rides or gatherings.
