Creepy, cool, and soggy Halloween on the High Desert

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Haaaaaappppppy almost Halloween, folks! I hope you've been keeping up with our forecasts as we continue tracking rain chances mooooooving into Central Oregon just in time for Halloween. Unfortunately, it does look like things will get a bit soggy tomorrow afternoon and evening, right as trick-or-treaters are heading out for some Halloween fun. Our latest timing shows the first showers moving into the area shortly after nooooooon Saturday, with on-and-off rain possible through the evening.

As far as rainfall totals go, we're looking at anywhere from a few hundredths of an inch to around a tenth, depending on where showers develop. I'd lean closer to just a few hundredths for most communities, which means a few raindrops are likely to hit your head or face while you're out collecting candy. There should be some breaks in the rain, but I do expect things to stay damp through much of trick-or-treating time, and even after that for party time. This isn't looking like a night-ruining rain event, but it will certainly be dreary, chilly, and damp- potentially shortening the amount of time you want to spend outside. Keep that in mind when planning costumes, and maybe pick a neighborhood with plenty of covered porches or trees!

Temperatures won't help much either, with Halloween highs only reaching the upper 40s. By the evening, it'll feel even chillier, so extra layers underneath those costumes are a good idea for the kiddos. The good news is that we'll dry out considerably on Sunday, although highs will remain chilly in the upper 40s.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will gradually climb into the low to mid-50s, getting us a little closer to normal for this time of year. We'll continue tracking the latest timing and rain chances right here on KTVZ.com. Have a safe and happy Halloween, Central Oregon!
