KTVZ

The first of two memorial services was held Saturday for Pivoyne Zenalda Castro-Luna, a Bend woman who police say was a homicide victim, while a memorial fund has been started to assist her two teen-aged children.

Police have not solved or released many details about the killing of Castro-Luna, 42, whose body was found in the brush off Highway 20 east of town last Sunday.

However, they have revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma and said they are still searching for Honorio de Horta-Frias, 40, as a “person of interest” in the case.

A bilingual memorial service was held Saturday afternoon at Bend Church of the Nazarene, with an English-language service set for 11 a.m. next Saturday at Victory Baptist Church, 1034 NE 11th Street in Bend.

Castro-Luna’s is survived by her husband, Daniel Castro, daughter Keren and son Daniel, her obituary stated.

“Pivo,” as she was known, was born in Martinez De La Torre, Veracruz, Mexico, and “was a person with a strong determination,” the notice stated.

“She always achieved what she pursued, from beginning to end,” it said. “She never let her children or her husband down.”

“Pivo was well known for helping others sacrificially and with sincere love. She always cared for her family here and in Mexico. She was a very hard worker and an intelligent business woman till the very end. Pivo touched many hearts and will never be forgotten.”

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pivo Castro-Luna memorial account at Home Federal Bank to assist her children.
