The Education Foundation for Bend-LaPine Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Bob Jones as its new executive director effective August 16th.

Bob Jones is a familiar face with both the Education Foundation and Bend-La Pine Schools having served as a board member of the foundation and as an administrator with the school district.

He worked as a district administrator as the Director of Learning Options, On-line programs, Athletics and Activities for five years and served as principal of Mountain View High School for seven years. Prior to coming to Bend, he was the Principal of Bellingham High School in Washington state.

“We are thrilled to have Bob take on the Executive Director role,” said Michele Emery, President of the Education Foundation. “Bob knows the Foundation’s mission and vision extremely well and has held instrumental roles in helping develop student athletes both on the field of play and through inventive learning opportunities for decades. We really couldn’t have found a better fit for this important role with our Foundation.”

Jones officially retired from Bend-LaPine school district in 2012 and has remained very active with the Education Foundation since that time.

The Education Foundation for the Bend-LaPine schools secures funds to provide tools for teachers to enhance formal learning in the classroom and provides activity fee scholarships to students to participate in sport and club activities. With a goal to provide an equitable distribution of funds raised, the Education Foundation has provided over $1.4 million in grants and scholarships to support innovative learning and pay to play scholarships.

“As an educator who has dedicated a career to fostering success of students, I have direct insight into how the Foundation has helped so many of our community’s youth,” said Jones. “I look forward to furthering the Foundation’s goals and, ultimately, impacting the well-being of many more students in the Bend-La Pine Schools.”
