Fire destroys home SE of Prineville

KTVZ

A resident of the Juniper Canyon area southeast of Prineville walked outside Wednesday and spotted his neighbor’s unoccupied house on fire, prompting a call to 911, but fire crews were unable to save the double-wide mobile home, authorities said.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the Southeast Olsen Lane resident who arrived on scene as Crook County Fire & Rescue crews brought the fire under control, said Fire Marshal Casey Kump. Damages were estimated at $14,000.

Sheriff’s officers also responded around 11:45 a.m. to the house fire after the call from the neighbor, Kump said, adding that there were no injuries. The fire agency sent 11 firefighters on two engines, two water tenders and an ambulance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Kump said.
