BLM plans road work in Cline Buttes Rec Area
The Bureau of Land Management Prineville District Office will be improving the access road to the new Tumalo Canal Trailhead, located off Barr Road on the south side of the Cline Buttes Recreation Area.
The work will run from late February through May. Visitors and residents should expect heavy truck traffic on Barr Road between Cline Falls Hwy and Gerking Market road.
While there may be some disruption of traffic on Barr Road north of Gerking Market Road, the portion of Barr Road south of Gerking Market toward Cline Falls Highway will not be closed at any time.
The project will include placing surface aggregate on Barr Road between Gerking Market Road and the new trailhead. Construction activities will occur Monday through Thursday , from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Construction activities will not occur during the weekends.
Once the major construction work concludes, Prineville BLM will be hosting community volunteer projects to finish related trailhead project work, including fencing, landscaping, and sign installation. Please check the BLM website for more details as these later projects are scheduled.
This project is partially funded through a Recreation Trails Program Grant, managed by the Oregon Department of Parks and Recreation, http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/GRANTS/pages/trails.aspx
