Bend’s SE 15th St. to close for sewer work

KTVZ

The city of Bend will be closing SE 15 th Street near Chloe Lane between February 23 and approximately April 24 for the installation of a sewer collection pipe. Traffic will be detoured around the construction along Ferguson Road, SE 27 th Street and Knott Road.

The Southeast Interceptor is a gravity-powered sewer collection pipe that is 24 inches in diameter and will be 15 feet deep in 15 th Street.

This sewer collection system enhancement project was prioritized by the Sewer Infrastructure Advisory Group and approved by the City Council. It will increase collection system capacity and route sewage flow away from the downtown core area. The gravity transport system provides the opportunity to decommission several sewer pump stations that require energy to operate, and also provides opportunities for some homes on septic systems to access sewer service.

There are several sections of the project.

Phase 1, Murphy Road from Fairway Drive to Brosterhous Road is complete. Currently under construction is the section that begins at Murphy and Brosterhous, runs east under the railroad, north along 15 th Street, under the irrigation canal and down Chloe Lane to Ferguson Road. Future phases will continue northeast through neighborhoods and then north on 27 th Street to Neff Road.
